How to set up the CnC Online Launcher

Command & Conquer Online launcher (Origin / Steam)
Intro
This is a short walkthrough of how I get C&C Online working so I can play Command & Conquer titles online again. When GameSpy went dark, the official online support for these games went with it; C&C Online is a mod/launcher that restores that functionality. I cover installing the launcher, the one UI quirk that trips people up (using Hook instead of the big launch buttons), then bringing the game up through Origin (same idea for Steam), and finally logging in with a C&C Online account and opening a Custom Match lobby for friends. Overall it’s a small setup process once you know the hook step.

Official download and FAQ
Download the launcher from the project site, and use the FAQ for common setup questions and troubleshooting.
Install, search, and hook the game
- Download the C&C Online launcher and install it.
- After install, use Windows search for “C&C Online” to open the app.
- Important: The default launch entries in the window are misleading—clicking them to start a game does not work the way you’d expect.
- What actually works: use Hook and select the game you want (I used Command & Conquer 3 for the demo). Enable the checkbox for that game.
- When the hook step is finished, exit the C&C Online application.
Launch from your store (example: Origin)
- Open your store—Origin in my run—and start Tiberium Wars / Kane’s Wrath as you normally would (e.g. Play).
- You may see the C&C-style launcher; I launched Tiberium Wars from there. The first click can re-open the same launcher instead of the game; from that state, choose C&C 3 and give it a few seconds—the game should then start.
- End state: Tiberium Wars is running, having been brought up through the C&C Online path so online features are available.
Multiplayer, C&C Online account, and hosting
- In-game: Multiplayer → Online.
- I use an account created on the C&C Online site. That login is tied to what the game expects for the EA account name and password flow in the online UI.
- The on-screen Login control is bottom-right and easy to miss; it can take a moment to sign in after you enter credentials.
- There is a “My Server account” (or similar) page on the C&C Online site where you can see your username and login details if you need to double-check them.
- After sign-in, I used Custom Match to set up a session. I set my online ID (e.g. Dr90 in the video) and created an unranked game so friends can join; no lobby password if you want it open.
- Friends on C&C Online can use Browse games (from the home flow) and should see your lobby when it’s up.
If something breaks, the C&C Online project has support pages and a community Discord where I got unstuck when I was learning the steps—worth checking before you fight the launcher alone.
