What Atriox Players Actually Open With in Halo Wars 2 (1v1)

Guides tell you how Atriox should open. This pilot asks a different question: what do Atriox players in our sample actually finish building in the first two minutes of 1v1 Ranked — and which patterns win more often?

We pulled completion-based build events from Team Respawn’s match database, filtered to Atriox in 1v1 Ranked, and clustered the building sequence inside the first 120 seconds. Popularity and win rate are reported separately — common is not automatically best.

Sample: 118 decided 1v1 Ranked games with stored event summaries (collected July 25, 2026). Lookup-biased Team Respawn data only — not the global ladder. Win rates published only for groups with ≥15 games. Events are building/unit completions, not classic queue order.

At a glance

  • 118 games — Atriox overall 64–54 (54.2% WR) in this sample
  • Most common archetype: Double Harvester eco88 games (74.6%)
  • Highest publishable win rate: same line — 52–36 (59.1% WR)
  • Median second Harvester in that bucket: 0:44; first non-grunt combat unit ~0:29
  • Exact full sequences are fragmented — no single string hit the 15-game bar for a published win rate

How we measured openers

For each match we join the Atriox player’s event summary to the roster by team_id (safe in 1v1, where there is one human per team). We keep only build-order entries with time_ms < 120000, then fingerprint the sequence of buildings and building upgrades. Grunt spam is ignored for the fingerprint so sequences do not explode into unique strings.

Those fingerprints are bucketed into coarse archetypes:

  • Double Harvester eco — two+ Harvesters among the first four building completions
  • Early Raid Camp — Raid Camp in the first four completions
  • Fast expand — Mini Base in the first four completions and finished before ~1:30
  • Sparse / other — too few buildings recorded, or no clear bucket

Pair this with live leader stats on HW2 Meta and profile timelines on HW2 Stats.

Top exact sequences

Most frequent building-completion strings in the first 2 minutes. Counts and % are usage share of the 118-game sample (not win rate). Bar width scaled to the top row (11 games):

SequenceUsage · share

#28 games · 6.8% of sample

Exact strings still fragment — none hit 15 games alone — but the pattern is clear: Harvester, upgrade it, then another Harvester / Extractor. That matches a map-control eco open even when the third and fourth buildings swap order.

What correlates with wins

In this pilot, the most popular line is also the only archetype with a publishable win rate — and it sits above the sample average (54.2%). Cyan bars are published (≥15 games); gray bars are observed records only and should not be treated as ranked.

Win rate by archetype

Double Harvester eco
59.1%
Fast expand
4–9
Other
5–3
Sparse / incomplete
0–5
Early Raid Camp
3–1

Sample average: 64–54 (54.2% WR). Gray rows are under the 15-game publish threshold.

So this sample does not show a rare “secret opener” beating the meta. It shows a clear consensus eco open that also posts the strongest measured result. That can flip as the sample grows — especially if fast-expand or early Raid Camp lines pick up volume.

vs our published Atriox guide

Our Atriox build-order guide opens Standard Map Control with double supply (Harvester), early Harvester upgrade, Power Extractor, then minis around ~1:20 and War Council. The data mostly agrees on the first minute: double Harvester + upgrade is what the ladder sample actually does.

Two nuances from the telemetry:

  • War Council often is not completed inside two minutes in the top exact sequences — the guide’s full building list stretches past this window. Measuring “openers” at 2:00 captures eco setup more than the full Tech 1 plan.
  • Fast expand (early Mini Base) appears in ~11% of games but is still too small for a published WR. The guide’s aggressive expansion variant is a real minority line in our sample, not the default.

Read this post as evidence for the opening economy shape; keep the guide for Chosen play, leader powers, and mid-game transitions that events in the first two minutes cannot capture.

Practical takeaways

  • Default to a double Harvester eco open in 1v1 unless you have a concrete reason to deviate — it is both the majority line and the best-supported win-rate bucket here.
  • Aim to have your second Harvester online near ~0:45 (sample median in the eco bucket) and expect an early combat unit around ~0:30.
  • Treat Harvester → upgrade → third eco building as the stable core; exact third/fourth building order (Harvester vs Extractor) varies more than the archetype does.
  • Early Raid Camp and ultra-fast Mini Base opens exist, but this pilot lacks the sample size to recommend them as upgrades over the eco default.
  • Use the guide for everything after the open — Chosen veterancy, Chopper play, and LP path still matter more than a 2-minute building string alone.

Limitations

  • Team Respawn profile-lookup sample only — not a census of every 1v1 Ranked game.
  • Event summaries follow match retention; the calendar span of surviving rows is wide, but older games without summaries are gone.
  • Completions ≠ queued build order; upgrades show as Upgrade Harvester / Upgrade Extractor when the upgraded building finishes.
  • Buildings-first clustering; grunt counts and leader-power timing are out of scope for this pilot.
  • 1v1 Ranked only — 2v2 / 3v3 / Team War openers will look different.
  • Win rates require ≥15 games; smaller groups are listed as inconclusive on purpose.

This is a pilot for leader-opener analysis. If the pipeline holds up, we can rerun it for other leaders and longer windows — and compare those results against our Guides and weekly Stats and Analytics reports.
