Halo Campaign Evolved Mission 10: The Library Walkthrough
by Team Respawn· ~11 min read
This is a Legendary co-op walkthrough of Halo Campaign Evolved Mission 10 — The Library, the Flood-corridor gauntlet after 343 Guilty Spark. Below: why Andy and Gus needed a mental-health day before recording it, the shotgun-and-overshield grind through the Index chamber, a broken door that clips straight through the floor, and where to grab this mission's 3 skulls + 1 terminal, with the full video embedded above. Spoiler: this is the first mission either of them has flat-out called a loss for Team Respawn's corporate card.
Halo Campaign Evolved Mission 10 setup
- Seventh mission of the remade Halo: Combat Evolved campaign (Mission 10 in full Campaign Evolved release order after the three prequels, The Pillar of Autumn, Halo, Truth and Reconciliation, The Silent Cartographer, Assault on the Control Room, and 343 Guilty Spark).
- Legendary co-op throughout; full playlist and text walkthroughs live on TeamRespawn.net, with the video also in the Videos database.
- Classic CE structure, remade: a locked-down Forerunner interior, wave after wave of Flood pouring out of side corridors, three elevator descents, and the Index chamber at the bottom.
- This one came out later than usual — Andy opens by admitting they needed "a mental health day in between missions" before sitting down to record it.
- Andy and Gus are not running a dedicated skull route on stream — the collectible section below fills in Tilt, Pop, Famine, and the Tangent III terminal.
Dread, the corporate card, and the first L
Andy opens cold: "Ladies and gentlemen, this is the most godforsaken mission in this godforsaken game. It's the library." Gus doesn't disagree. The pair spend the opening minutes relitigating whether Campaign Evolved was worth buying at all — and for the first time in the series, they call it a straight loss.
- Andy: The Library "does not call to me... it does not excite me." He tags this purchase "the first L in the corporate court in Team Respawn history."
- The running joke continues: the game went on the corporate card, plus an extra $20 for early access — three months before they'd even gotten this far into the campaign.
- Andy's counter-question to Gus: would you feel differently about this game at $30 instead of $50? Gus already made that case when it launched.
- Despite the complaints, both agree they'd be "remiss as Halo content creators" not to see it through — grudging commitment, not enthusiasm.
- Weapon notes carry over from the last mission: the shotgun spawn is the highlight again, and losing the Vista pistol on death still stings.
The Library skulls and terminal
This mission packs 3 skulls and 1 terminal. Andy and Gus mostly play through for combat and commentary; the locations below fill in the collectible route so you can grab everything in one Legendary pass (order matches a natural playthrough; locations cross-checked against the Push Square skulls & terminals guide).
- Skull — Tilt (Rally Point Alpha): In the tunnel section where 343 Guilty Spark appears overhead with flying Sentinels lasering the Flood, turn around and jump onto the left ramp. The skull sits at the top of that ramp, in the middle.
- Skull — Pop (Rally Point Bravo): After riding the elevator down and hitting the "Wait, It Gets Worse" checkpoint, head to the locked door where Guilty Spark is waiting. Turn around from the door, climb to the top of a nearby ramp, and jump across to the platform opposite it — the skull is on a small ledge on the wall facing the locked door.
- Terminal — Tangent III (Rally Point Bravo): Right after grabbing Pop, go through the now-unlocked door. Skip the objective-marked panel on the right and use the panel on the left instead — head into that room and follow the tunnel in the back-left corner to the terminal.
- Skull — Famine (Rally Point Charlie): After the third elevator descent, in the Flood-controlled area you're sent through to find the final chamber, go down the ramp and check the corner immediately to your left as you pass through the doorway.
Combat notes, a broken door, and grabbing the Index
The actual gameplay commentary is sparse compared to earlier missions — this is the run where the banter takes over — but a few things land clean between conversations: the shotgun and overshields carrying the fights, a Hunter one-shotting Andy with an overshield active, and a genuinely bad geometry glitch on one of the interior doors.
- "The shotgun is so satisfying to use in this remake" gets repeated almost verbatim from the last mission — Andy admits they've probably said it in every video by now, and Gus agrees the whole weapon sandbox is the strongest part of Campaign Evolved.
- Overshields are scattered through the corridors; Gus flags one down a side ramp mid-fight, and Andy pops one right before a Hunter closes the gap and kills him outright — "the fact that he just one-bombed me with an overshield is nuts."
- Hunter movement gets called out as janky — they slide more than they should, which both chalk up to a "dance move."
- Visual bug: a door opening clips straight through the floor mesh with no frame to slide into, which Andy jokes looks worse than 2001 and dubs it "Invisi flood blurbs." It's a rough moment in an otherwise clean-looking remake.
- Bridges gate more of the backtracking than either of them remembered — "thank you, Halo, making me use my brain" after a wrong turn looking for a door.
- The mission's actual objective — grabbing the Index — gets one direct line near the end: "we got to grab this index," followed shortly by the closer once it's in hand.
The Library walkthrough takeaways
The Library lives up to its reputation for Andy and Gus: dense Flood corridors, three elevator descents, and enough dread going in that they took a mental-health day before recording. Unlike the tighter, more enthusiastic 343 Guilty Spark run, this episode is lighter on mission-specific commentary than usual, and the pair lean into that openly rather than fight it. Combat highlights are still there: the shotgun remains the star weapon, overshields matter more than usual against Hunters, and a door-mesh glitch is the most visible bug they've hit in the remake so far. Collectible route is Tilt on the ramp during the Sentinel-laser stretch, Pop across from the locked door at the "Wait, It Gets Worse" checkpoint, Tangent III through the left-hand panel right after, and Famine in the corner after the third elevator ride down. Net verdict from this run: The Library is still a nightmare, the remake doesn't fix that, but the shotgun and overshields at least make the nightmare bearable.
FAQ: Halo Campaign Evolved The Library
Which mission is The Library in Campaign Evolved?
The Library is Mission 10 in the full Halo Campaign Evolved release order — after the three prequels, The Pillar of Autumn, Halo, Truth and Reconciliation, The Silent Cartographer, Assault on the Control Room, and 343 Guilty Spark — and the seventh mission of the remade Halo: Combat Evolved campaign.
How many skulls and terminals are in The Library?
Three skulls (Tilt, Pop, Famine) and one terminal (Tangent III). Tilt is on the ramp during the Sentinel-laser section; Pop is on a ledge across from the locked door at the "Wait, It Gets Worse" checkpoint; Tangent III is through the left-hand panel right after grabbing Pop; Famine is in a corner after the third elevator descent.
Where is the Pop skull?
At Rally Point Bravo, after the elevator ride down triggers the "Wait, It Gets Worse" checkpoint, go to the locked door where 343 Guilty Spark is waiting. Turn around, climb to the top of a nearby ramp, jump across to the platform, and look at the wall opposite the locked door for the skull on a small ledge.
Is The Library still considered the hardest mission in Halo: Combat Evolved?
For Andy and Gus, yes — Andy calls it "the most godforsaken mission" before the mission even starts, and this is the first Campaign Evolved episode where they call the purchase itself a loss rather than defend it. The remake's shotgun and overshield placement make the Flood corridors more survivable than they remember, but the dense enemy waves and elevator-gated backtracking still make it the roughest mission in this Legendary co-op run so far.
What is the goal of The Library mission?
You're pushing down through a Forerunner facility, riding three elevators deeper into the structure while fighting off Flood, to retrieve the Index — the object 343 Guilty Spark needs to activate Halo. Andy and Gus reach it near the end of their run with a simple "we got to grab this index" before wrapping the video.
