Halo Campaign Evolved Mission 11: Two Betrayals Walkthrough
by Team Respawn· ~10 min read
This is a Legendary co-op walkthrough of Halo Campaign Evolved Mission 11 — Two Betrayals, the Banshee-and-pulse-generator run that follows The Library. Below: the stuttering recording session that made Andy and Gus replay the same stretch three times, a Banshee hunt that ends at an unfixable-looking gap, the "level design didn't change enough" complaint, and where to grab this mission's 3 skulls + 1 terminal, with the full video embedded above. Spoiler: the video title says it all — they regret playing it.
Halo Campaign Evolved Mission 11 setup
- Eighth mission of the remade Halo: Combat Evolved campaign (Mission 11 in full Campaign Evolved release order after the three prequels, The Pillar of Autumn, Halo, Truth and Reconciliation, The Silent Cartographer, Assault on the Control Room, 343 Guilty Spark, and The Library).
- Legendary co-op throughout; full playlist and text walkthroughs live on TeamRespawn.net, with the video also in the Videos database.
- Mission shape: Cortana is back in your head after the silent Library, you hit the Covenant and Flood in the canyons, commandeer Banshees, and take out the pulse generators by destroying their power conduits before time runs out.
- The recording session was rough — stuttering, repeated segments, and a few cuts that Andy promises were fixed in editing.
- Andy and Gus are not running a dedicated skull route on stream — the collectible section below fills in the Alone terminal and the Tough Luck, Black Eye, and Mythic skulls.
Cortana won't stop talking, and the cutscenes win again
The video opens on the remade cutscenes, which both agree are the best part of Campaign Evolved: "they should have just made a movie." Andy likes how the story changes make the tone more consistent, and he spots a glimpse of Halo 5 in the Cortana-absorbing-the-Index moment.
- Andy's welcome-back line sets the tone: "welcome back to this godforsaken game."
- A running gag lands early: Cortana "won't shut up" after saying nothing in The Library, and Gus has the answer — she wasn't in your head in the library.
- Gus tests the Sentinel beam and Andy turns it into a Toby Keith bit, which the pair carry through the opening minutes.
- The corporate card gets its usual roast: leaning on nostalgia is "how we got on the corporate card."
- Falling damage turns out to exist in this remake, which both of them discover the hard way.
Two Betrayals skulls and terminal
This mission packs 3 skulls and 1 terminal. Andy and Gus mostly play through for combat and commentary (they even guess at a skull in a random cave and come up empty — see below); the locations here fill in the collectible route so you can grab everything in one Legendary pass (locations cross-checked against the Push Square skulls & terminals guide).
- Terminal — Alone (Rally Point Alpha): At the start, destroy the Sentinels, then turn back toward the holographic planet in the middle of the room. Follow either side of the path around it to reach the terminal.
- Skull — Tough Luck (Rally Point Alpha): Once outside, take a Banshee and fly back toward the building you just left. Aim for the blue light at the building's center — the skull sits on a platform in front of it.
- Skull — Black Eye (Rally Point Charlie): After destroying the conduits at the first pulse generator, head back outside and find the three large ramps hanging over a lowered path. Go to the far side of the ramps and search among the orange Flood growths; the skull is at the back. Push Square's comments note you may also need to cross two bridges and pass through two separate buildings to reach the ramps.
- Skull — Mythic (Rally Point Charlie): After Black Eye, follow the objective marker around the side of the gorge and to the left. At the corner, take the left path where a Banshee and turret are waiting (avoid the right path, where Covenant and Flood are fighting). Fly the Banshee to the top of the building directly ahead and use the panel to open a door, then fly to the platform with the door. Clear the first room, continue through the tunnel, and clear the second room — the skull appears inside the central structure once every enemy in that second room is dead.
Banshees, popcorn Flood, and the gap nobody fixed
Gameplay is the backdrop for a lot of tangents here (football, Pokémon cards, Ken Burns documentaries), but the mission itself gives them plenty to complain about: deaths in the open canyon, Flood that soak up ammo, and a Banshee puzzle that stalls the whole run.
- Early on, Andy is stuck with "a pea shooter" and gets vaporized; the pair work out where to go as the pulse generators and Banshees come into view.
- The stuttering gets worse at checkpoints, and the pair end up running "the same part of the mission three times" — Andy flags at one point that they were gone about 30 seconds of footage.
- Flood "popcorn" swarm both of them. One thing the remake did fix — you can no longer spawn with the popcorn the way you could in the original.
- The Flood "thrasher" type gets a mention while a Hunter-versus-Flood brawl plays out in the canyon, and Andy admits he used to love watching the factions fight each other.
- The cave: Andy bets "there's a skull in that cave right there," they drop in, nearly die to the fall, and find nothing. "Doesn't that just scream collectible?" Per the guide above, none of this mission's skulls are in that cave.
- The Warthog gets a poor review next to the Ghost; they wish you could dismount the turret.
- Banshees are the real tool for this mission — they trade pilot duty with a pilot's-license joke, get EMP'd more than once, and Andy dies from enemy fire after climbing all the way up.
- Then the wall: after landing, they hit an area they can't cross. A panel says "open door," the door doesn't open, and they end up jumping off the edge. Andy: "this is a 20 year old game, no one thought to fix this part."
- Andy says on camera that he requested a refund and "Steve denied it," then adds that his opinion of the game "plummeted" and he "didn't know it could go lower."
- At the last big fight near the end, Andy calls it one of the worst parts of the campaign — a Wraith, a Hunter, and Flood — and manages a Wraith hijack to turn it around.
- Ending: the Pillar of Autumn is located, the last pulse generator gets taken out with the Sentinel beam, and the mission just stops. "It just ends. You can skip this."
The remake didn't change enough
Midway through, one of them gives the clearest verdict on the remake so far: disappointed that the level design wasn't changed more, with Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag as the example of a remake that changed a lot and was better for it. The Flood look great, but it feels like a graphics pass on the same layout — "DLSS 5 kind of stuff." They do spot a few real changes, though: a blocked-off section down below and a level layout that "they changed... for sure" near one of the Banshee landings.
- One of them suggests a toggle for newer weapons — "how come the battle rifle isn't here?" — and says multiplayer with this gunplay would probably be good.
- Music review: neither has been hit by the soundtrack in recent missions. It's the same tracks, maybe slightly edited.
- Soundtrack tangent: the favorites are Halo 2 or Halo 3, with ODST getting a strong vote and Halo Wars called out for a banging soundtrack. The one nobody can remember a thing from is Halo 5.
- The "is Halo dead?" argument: one of them says Halo has been dead for years and may never be back, while the other pushes back — the shooter space is just bigger now, and you can only lean on nostalgia for so long.
Two Betrayals walkthrough takeaways
Two Betrayals is a messy one for Andy and Gus: the recording kept stuttering, the Banshee route dead-ended at a door that wouldn't open, and the remake's "same layout, nicer graphics" approach wears on them. There are good moments (a clean Wraith hijack, banshee dogfights, and the Sentinel beam finishing off the last generator), but the video leans on banter more than mission advice, and they say outright they won't be replaying it. The collectible route is Alone near the holographic planet at Rally Point Alpha, Tough Luck on the platform in front of the blue light (reach it by Banshee), then Black Eye past the hanging ramps and Mythic through the Banshee-and-panel route at Rally Point Charlie. Net verdict from this run: Two Betrayals still ends abruptly, the remake doesn't fix that, and Andy's refund request was denied.
