CSR (Competitive Skill Rank) is Halo Wars 2's visible ranked rating. It appears on your profile card in-game and on Team Respawn after you play placement matches in a ranked playlist. CSR is split into named tiers; within each metal band, tier 1 is the lowest and tier 6 is the highest.

• Bronze 1 – Bronze 6 — entry ranked band for new or returning players.

CSR vs MMR in Halo Wars 2

Players often conflate CSR and MMR. They are related but not the same:

• CSR is the displayed rank — Bronze through Champion — that you see in menus and on profile cards. It moves up and down after ranked wins and losses.
• MMR (matchmaking rating) is the hidden number the game uses to find opponents. You do not see official MMR in Halo Wars 2's UI.
